Advice Needed: What do you like most in a book?

I would like a little help with my novel. No, it has nothing to do with plot, or any details about my work. Mostly, I would like you to answer a single question for me.

I know it sounds a little silly, but I feel it is the only thing anyone else can help me with. My world is my own, and is definitely not ready to be shared with anyone. Instead I would like to know what hooks you into a book the most. You know, that one thing that makes you want to keep reading long after the chapters have all been read.

For me, it has to be the way the words flow with the story. If I can not feel how the story changes, the book does nothing for me.

So, what about you? What element of a book do you like the most?
